Study of Median Palmar Cutaneous Nerve Involvement in a Patient with Wrist Ganglion
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Few reports represent palmar cutaneous nerve neuropathy in the wrist due to a ganglion cyst. Case Presentation: A 25-year-old female was presented with a mass at volar side of the wrist and hypoesthesia at the base of thenar eminence. At ulrasonographic examination, a simple cyst was detected. Sensory response of palmar cutaneous branch of median nerve was absent at the affected side. Treatment: Ultrasound guided drainage of the cyst was performed. At 3 months follow up examination, the patient was symptom-free. Learned Lessons: This case was rare among cases involving palmar cutaneous branch of median nerve due to the wrist ganglion documented by Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS).

متن کاملFibrolipoma of multiple nerves in the wrist.
We report fibrolipoma involving the median nerve, its palmar cutaneous branch as well as the ulnar nerve in the same hand of a 25-year-old woman. The patient presented with a lump in the wrist with signs of carpal tunnel syndrome. Multiple nerve involvement was detected on magnetic resonance imaging and further confirmed at surgical exploration and decompression. Imaging is recommended in the m...
متن کاملBilateral Triad of Persistent Median Artery, a Bifid Median Nerve and High Origin of its Palmar Cutaneous Branch. A Case Report and Clinical Implications
We report the association of a persistent median artery, a bifid median nerve with a rare very high origin palmar cutaneous branch, presenting bilaterally in the upper limb of a 75-year-old female cadaver. The persistent median nerve with a bifid median nerve has been reported in patients presenting with carpal tunnel syndrome. Reports of this neurovascular anomaly occurring in association with...
متن کاملSafety of carpal tunnel release with a short incision. A cadaver study.
The standard long incision technique for carpal tunnel release causes inevitable damage to skin sensation, the inter-thenar plexus and especially the distal branches of the palmar cutaneous branch of the median nerve (PCM), and may cause long-term disabling pain and scar tenderness. There are many variations in the distal branches of the median nerve at the wrist. Anatomic studies of this regio...
متن کاملThe role of sensory nerve conduction study of the palmar cutaneous nerve in the diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome in patients with polyneuropathy.
BACKGROUND Conventional methods in the diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) in patients with polyneuropathy (PNP) are insufficient. AIMS We suggest that the comparison of the conduction of the median nerve with that of the neighboring peripheral nerves may be more beneficial in the diagnosis of entrapment neuropathy. SETTING AND DESIGN The median nerve sensory conduction in healthy vol...
